Skill Education is a social enterprise running workshops that engage London secondary school students in - primarily in the 14-17 age bracket - in enterprise, communication and presentation skills. The ultimate objective of the workshops is to enhance the students' understanding of how soft skills can improve their employability and assist them in achieving career success.
Research from enterprise education campaign Make Your Mark has shown that "running my own business" is the top career path amongst those in the 14-30 age band and, whilst this may not resonate with all the students who participate in a SKILL! workshop, the skills imparted can be applied to any career path.
Founded by young entrepreneur Patrick Philpott in October 2007 whilst studying for A-levels, Skill Education has ultimately been created by young people for young people. This gives us an innate understanding of how students like to engage in soft skills, and how they wish to participate in that learning.
